Description of the attraction

The highest peak of Mala Fatra is Veľký Kriváň (1,708 m above sea level). It is located on the main ridge of the mountain range in its Krivánská part. Climbing the peak is definitely worth your effort — it offers a beautiful view of all directions. You can reach Veľký Kriváň from several starting points. The most used route is the road from the Vrátna valley from the Vrátna cottage. A hiking trail marked with a green sign leads from there. You will pass it under the cable car to Snilovské sedlo, where you will connect to the red sign that will lead you to Veľký Kriváň. This route to Veľký Kriváň is only four kilometers long, but it is by no means one of the easy ones. Be prepared for a steep climb that will take you more than 2 hours. The journey is quite exhausting, but you will certainly enjoy the result more than if you were riding the cable car. If you don't dare, you can get to Snilovské sedlo by chairlift. Instead of a demanding hike, you will have an easy walk.
